Sarkar

Respect the hustle, Jawoos —live the legacy

Born and raised in the gritty streets of Kalimati, Kathmandu, Nepal, Sarkar emerged as the undisputed pioneer of gangsta rap in the country. Kicking off his journey in 2008 with his debut single “Bounce,” Sarkar wasted no time in making his mark. His electrifying stage presence rocked Hetuda in 2009, setting the stage for his meteoric rise.

Initially known as King Aliaaz, he unleashed “Goli Cha Boli” in 2009, igniting a wildfire of buzz throughout the neighborhood. However, it was his transformation into Sarkar that truly solidified his status as a force to be reckoned with. With the release of “Bholi Samjhi” in 2010, he seamlessly blended club vibes with gritty lyricism, captivating audiences far and wide.

In 2012, Sarkar’s feature on “Party People” revolutionized the Nepali hip-hop scene, injecting it with an unapologetic gangsta rap energy. His heartfelt tribute single, “Khusi Lai Chinna,” in 2015, honored the victims of the tragic Buddha Airlines plane crash of 2011, showcasing his versatility and depth as an artist.

Venturing beyond the mic, Sarkar founded NPL Records, a platform dedicated to nurturing emerging talent and pushing boundaries in the music industry. From the hard-hitting tracks of his album “Sambhidan” to the socially conscious anthem “Danthey(100),” which shed light on police brutality, Sarkar fearlessly confronts societal issues through his music.

His relentless dedication to his craft has seen him embark on nationwide tours in 2018 and 2019, followed by a triumphant international debut in Dubai. Sarkar’s influence extends beyond the studio, with his “Jawoos” merchandise line embodying the spirit of respect synonymous with his name.

As an advocate for the underground rap scene, Sarkar orchestrated the groundbreaking “Jawoos Cypher,” providing a platform for burgeoning artists to shine. Today, he continues to elevate the culture with his podcast, “Sarkar Sanga Sanibar,” featuring the biggest names in rap scene.

With his upcoming album, “Rajtantra,” on the horizon, Sarkar remains a beacon of authenticity and resilience, cementing his legacy as an icon of Nepali hip-hop.
